AREA UTILITIES AND TRANSFER

SELLERS: You will need to transfer your utility services to your new home location or cancel if you're leaving the area. One week or so prior to settlement, contact your service providers. Let them know the date that you'll be moving and discontinue these services as of that date. The only exception is your electric service. Please do not have your electrical service disconnected but let them know the buyers name and arrange for service termination a few days after closing just in case the buyers neglect to put the service in their name on the day of settlement. We must have electricity for pre-settlement activities.

BUYERS: At least one week prior to settlement, you'll need to arrange for connection of your utilities. You may need to provide a credit report in some cases, but your lender should be able to provide that to you without additional cost. You also may need to pay a connection or service fee in order to set up your accounts.
